Cardiosense, a digital heath company focused on artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled solutions to manage cardiac disease, has appointed Eric Meizlish as its new chief executive officer (CEO). Meizlish will succeed co-founder Amit Gupta, who will continue as the company’s chief strategy officer.

Meizlish co-founded and served as president of Lumere, a clinical evidence and analytics company acquired by Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX), where he later served as senior VP of strategy and corporate development. He was most recently CEO of Prendio-BioProcure, a cloud-based eProcurement platform for the life sciences industry.

“With the talent and innovation already in place at Cardiosense, we can transform how cardiac disease is managed. Our team has created a technical capability that has never existed before: the ability to accurately predict volumes and pressures within the heart, non-invasively,” said Meizlish. “Our next chapter is about scaling a platform that delivers these key measures to patients and providers to improve care and change the trajectory of heart disease. I look forward to working with the team to accelerate the impact for patients, providers, and partners at a moment when the industry is ready to embrace AI and digital solutions for heart health.”

This appointment follows the addition of John Martin, MD as executive VP and chief medical officer last month. The company also secured U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for its CardioTag sensor in July.

“We started Cardiosense with the goal of changing how cardiac disease is managed by building a platform for broadly accessible, precision cardiac care,” said Amit Gupta, co-founder and newly appointed chief strategy officer. “The accomplishments to date provide a strong foundation and I look forward to working with Eric, whose leadership and proven track record scaling in healthtech companies make him the right person to lead us going forward.”
